July is Officially Over!

That's right - it is officially over because I have finished my Project Life pages for July!!

It was a bit more challenging to get my pages done for the month.
  • We went on a trip
  • I had cute photos of the grands
  • There were lots of birthdays
The challenge is getting enough  - but not too much of photos, journaling and goodies to make the page interesting and attractive. It is also important to make the photos and font big enough to be seen with out causing major eye-strain! That is why I am happy there are no rules in this project!! It grew to six pages and I managed to get everything just about everything. So here is the rest of the project for the month. Again all pages are made products from DesignerDigitals.

There you have it!!  Now I must begin to think about my pages for August. I just realized that David had three uncles born in August. I better begin searching for their photos!

Thanks for looking!

July Project Life

As I've mentioned, my approach to a "Project Life" is much different than those with young children. I do wish I would have known about this type of project when my kids were younger. But then, that was before the days of digital scrapping and all of the fabulous technology we have today.

July is a birthday month for our family and only one heritage birthday so I created one page that includes all of them. I received fun photos of our "grands" that showed what they are doing or their milestones so I did a full page for them too! The biggest problem is selecting the photos. I struggled with the design, but once I got it going it fell into place.

The nice thing about a project like this is that there are no rules. I put it together so it pleases me and tells the story. I'm planning to print the pages and put them in a nice scrapbook rather than creating a printed, bound book. This way as I make the pages I sort of plan the display order but will have the option to change it as I put it all together.

July will be a five page month. I've complete the three below and I'm still working on two pages for our trip to Michigan and Indiana. They will be done within the next couple of days and I’ll post them when they are ready.

Products for all three pages are from DesignerDigitals.

I hope you've enjoyed these and thanks for looking! I'll add the next two page. Hope you have a great day and don't forget to laugh a little!

Summer Travels

A couple weeks ago we made a whirlwind trip to Michigan and Indiana for quick visits with David's Dad and Mom and then to our son's. It was a fast one and I didn't have much camera time. We had been driving a long for a while and I had been going crazy with what we were passing - a couple of perfect shots. Of course while in motion I don't realize how great the shot would be until it is too late. Part of the time I sit with my little Point & Shoot Canon in my lap. That's how I got this one. So glad for power windows that go down really fast!! Grabbed this shot through the opened window. It is far from the perfect photo but scrapping with masks hides some of the flaws! I love to get shots of old barns.....

We decided to take the side route rather than the freeway from Fort Wayne to Lafayette and we did pull off for a photo op but none of them turned out very good. I think this is my other favorite from the country shots. We stopped by a lush green farm field with wild orange day lilies along the side of the road. I wanted the lilies with the field in the background but wasn't about to lie down on the dirt road to get it.  Again taken with my little Canon - the Nikon was tucked away in the trunk. I really like the orange pop against the rich green!

Take care - and don't forget to laugh a little!

Project Life

My how time flies!! I can’t believe how long it has been since I’ve posted! To be honest, my wedding album isn’t progressing very rapidly. I guess it isn’t the number one priority, though it should be!!
I realize I have major concentration issues - I have so many things I want to do that I have trouble focusing on just one and following through with it. As a result, my scrapping bucket list stays the same with little to no progress on anything! I started the year with plans to:

·   focus on projects - including finishing my wedding book,
·   focus on photography - and learn to take better pictures and work with my camera
·   focus on the kid’s books - really need to finish their photo/scrapbooks
·   focus on heritage - scan the slides and find the details

What I have done so far is work on a Project Life Book. I really like the idea of recapping the weeks and months but as empty-nesters there really isn’t a lot to tell. So I’ve done a little different take on it. I’ve added a bit of family history. I’ve found the birthdays of our grandparents and our parent’s siblings. Though many of them are gone I’ve focused on them during their birth months with a little information about each one. This has been quite a challenge but lots of fun.

So I thought that over the next few weeks I would show you a little of what I’ve been working on. I’m not sure I’ll put them into a bound book. I think I’ll do them in a 3-ring binder book and that way I can add bits and pieces if I decide.

Here are my June pages - I guess I’ll go backwards from June to January.

I'll be back in a few days with my May pages. Guess it's time to start on my July pages too!!

Projects and Goals

I'm one of those people that is always coming up with ideas but can't seem to zero in on one and get it done! At the beginning of this year I made a list of my scrapping goals. Yes, those of us addicted to digiscrapping do have scrapping goals! I won't bore you with the list - but I did scrap a page about it!!

One of the main books on the list is my wedding album. Yes - that's right! We've been married for almost 45 years. Now that's not bad for getting married at the age of 19 and only knowing each other for a few months. I guess it's love because we are still together - and still in love!

However, I will never forget the look on my Mother's face when we announced our engagement - which is a story in itself! Then there was the look of horror on her face when we moved our wedding date up from April to February. Of course, you all know what everyone thought and for several months people looks at my mid-section before looking at my face. Well we fooled them all!! It was over 6 years before our daughter was born.

So now, after 44 years, I'm creating my wedding album! We didn't have a professional photographer. David's uncle, Uncle Frank, was a pretty good photographer so we had him take the pictures. The plan was that we would then get our own prints and make an album. (That didn't work out so good!) So I have the negatives from Uncle Frank and some prints that we did have done. Then there are photos that were taken by family, some prints and slides that I have scanned. Needless to say the photos are no longer in the best shape. So the best thing is to give it a bit of a heritage or aged feel. Last weekend I managed to get 2 pages done. These are the first pass pages and may have some adjustments as the book falls into place. The pages below will be facing pages in my album.

I need to work on the photo quality before I actually print them. So I guess this is my first "installment". I planned on doing a couple pages this weekend but it is now 6:15 p.m. on Sunday night and I haven't done anything toward them. Hmmmmmmmm - see what I said about having trouble with follow-through!!

Gotta run - maybe I can get a page done yet.

Have a great week and be sure you laugh this week - it makes people wonder what you have been up to!

I'm Still Here

It's been a really long time since I blogged - but I'm still here!! It's been an interesting year so far and we've been fairly busy! Our new granddaughter arrived in February and  we've had company several times through the summer. Our youngest son is getting married in October.

I'm still scrapping but my style has changed. I've discovered DesignerDigitals - a wonderful scrapping site with fabulous inspiration, great designers and a delightful group of scrappers. One of the things I like about DesignerDigitals is the focus on recording the daily things of life and photography - both things I really feel strongly about even though I don't manage to record everything and I only have a point and shoot camera. Here's one of my most recent pages based on a template by Katie Pertiet. I had these photos for a few weeks and was just waiting for the right inspiration jolt to scrap them. The template was exactly what I needed to get it started. I created this with all products from DesignerDigitals products. I posted this and the next day was asked if it could be featured in Gallery Highlights at Scrapbook Update. Of course, I said yes ant it was featured in Gallery Highlights on September 6.

One of my other favorites from this summer is based on a photo I took on our trip to Indiana in May. I have a habit of rolling the window down and taking pictures while David is driving. That can result in some pretty blurry photos! But once in a while I do get a fairly decent one. I took this one with my "moving car" method one morning when the low morning fog was just hanging above ground.

Nothing incredible!  I did this for the July Scraplift Challenge at DigiDesignResort. The inspiration page contained a large, prominent photo with slightly blended edges. The road in the photo definitely had to go!  Then with by using some blending techniques and adding some great natural looking elements and a background that was easy to blend it turned out like this....and it was to fun to create!!!

I've finally decided to work on a wedding album. I'm just a little behind!!! We've been married 44 years - but it's never too late to record special events. So I hope to have it done before our 45th anniversary in February.

I've got to run for now - heading over to DesignerDigitals for a chat/challenge.

Hope you have a great week - and be sure to laugh some!
