Do you ever use templates to do your pages. I’ll have to admit, I have not always been a template fan. Occasionally I would run across some but then would change them so much it wasn't worth the effort. However, I have JanetB Designs has put together some great templates to work with - whether you like it simple - lots of white space - or with clusters. I love what she has done with these....

Cinnamon, Ginger and Velvet Spice

I love the smells of fall. I stepped out last night to walk our fur baby and could tell someone nearby had their fireplace going - love that smell! Fall spices - cinnamon and ginger that flow from pumpkin breads, pies, cookies. Then, of course, there is apple crisp and cider!! OK - I’ve made you hungry.

I have just played with one of the most fun kits that I have worked with in a very long time. Sometimes it is hard to find cute kits for the little guys in our lives. Somehow flower cluster just don't work for a little guy playing with cars or stomping in the mud! But cute dinos are great for those LOs.

Cindy Ritter has just created the cutest dino kit and it is so fun to play with! It is available at Digitals. It has great papers for your background or layering and such cute dinos! I've done a couple new layouts for challenges this week and my hubby really liked them. He asked that I post them so his sister, Linda, would be able to see them. So - this one is for you Linda (and anyone else who happens to take a look!)

This first one was done for a challenge at DigiDesignResort that had to include "Tell me a story..." and create a page that tells the story. As soon as I ran across the challenge I knew I would have to do a page on "Twas a Stormy Night in June".

There are lots of pretty flowery kits available but not quite so many that are geared more for jeans and guys - or little boys. I love to do pages of Aaron but cannot always find what I am looking for. My Favorite Pair of Jeans, the new collab kit at DigiDesignResort, is just what I've been waiting for. Created by seventeen top designers, this kit will become one of my favorites. It is loaded with fun embellishments and great colors.

I am really excited and just had to let you know I have become a part of the Creative Team for Feli Designs. She is a wonderful designer and I have admired her work for quite some time. She uses beautiful colors and her elements are gorgeous. Just to give you a taste of her work, here is her latest creation released just last week --- Boy Happy.

I'm Back

I promised I would come back with a couple more kits - so here I am!!! I've been able to work with some really fabulous kits lately. Last week worked with Loving Rose, a great new kit by Carena. In her true style she has created a kit with gorgeous papers and tons of beautiful flowers and greenery. You'll find it at DigiDesignResort.

The photos in this first one bring back such wonderful memories and the book background paper creates a great setting for photos and the story.

Time Flies!

I just realized how long it has been since I've posted! Not that anything profound has happened since then. Life has gone on as normal and time just seems to fly by. I guess that's where scrapping comes in. Don't let the time get away from you without taking a photo or documenting what you have done. Then one day you look back and wonder what happened - where did all the time go and what did you do?

I'm at a place in my life that seems fairly dull. I get up in the morning - go to work - come home - have dinner - scrap, crochet, read or watch some TV (I generally multitask and do something while watching TV:) ) and then off to bed so I can get up at 5 a.m. and do it all over again. But even with that - I should be doing some meaningful scrapping. Right now most of my scrapping is CT work to help designers and scrapsites promote their work.

I do have some great goals however - heritage books, finish my kids books - through age 18 ( I refuse to tell you how far behind I really am on this!), grandkids books, story books - to name a few. Have you ever thought of making a book of things? Maybe your garden or yard, favorite Christmas items, your special collection, heritage items. Once you get started on that - the list could go on. I really need to retire so I can get busy on some of these!!!

Well - if any of the ideas get you thinking about what you would like to work on there are some wonderful new kits to help you out. I've just worked with three fabulous kits (or is that four?) - anyway - I'm going to try to blog for that many days in a row featuring one of those kits. Here's the first one.

This one is A Little Romance by JanetB Designs. This adorable kit is exclusive at DigiDesignResort. It has such pretty, soft colors and consists of 10 papers and 27 elements. I fnd it perfect for sweet photos of my adorable granddaughter. Janet is a great designer! Check out her blog JanetB Designs.

Happy New Year

I hope you had a great 2010 and that you can look back on it as a good year in your life. And now - time to start with the new page and look forward to all the 2011 holds! Have you made any resolutions - that you think you will actually keep? I do a mental "would like to" list. It's often a carry-over from the prior year's incomplete list! Oh well - at least I think about it!!

The scrapping year is off and running with a January Blog Train. The name is "Grandma's Quilt" and the color pallet is gorgeous!!! If you want to hop on go over to JanetB Designs. Grab her great kit there and hop on the train. This is her kit and a a layout I did using it.

Now back to the resolutions. I've been thinking that I don't really do two-page sets that I can put in a book - like I did with paper scrapping. So I want to focus more on that and on finishing some books this year. I did a set last week using Natural Feeling - the new DigiDesignResort Collab Kit. This ia a fantastic and versitle kit so hop on over to DDR and pick it up.

I have been a very bad blogger!!! It's been ages since I've posted. I guess I've just been busy working on LOs. And, of course, Christmas time is always busy with so many things to do.

I've worked on many Christmas LO's over the past few weeks and there are some great kits out there for you to use.

I know you will love the Mix and Match Snow is Falling series at DigiDesignResort. I was able to work with several of the kits and they are all fabulous! Here are a couple I did with Snow is Falling by JanetB Designs. This is Eliana in her little polar fleece suit. I loved the close-ups I took of her and this kit was perfect!

And now I am off for my Christmas events. We will enjoy Christmas with our daughter but will certainly be missing both of our sons. I do long for a time soon when we will all be together. But we will have a delightful time with her and her family. Aaron is almost four and is so much fun!!!

I do wish you all a very Merry Christmas - and please remember that Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas.

I'm on vacation until January 3 and will be doing extra scrapping. I've some great kits that I am working on. Who knows - maybe I'll even get another blog up before New Years!!!

Isn't Fall just awesome? I love the cooler days, chilly, crisp evenings and gorgeous colors. The billowing clouds so bright against the blue sky - make me feel warm and at peace. I've been driving home from work through the Battlefield Park. It is so pretty and gives me time to focus on God's glorious creation and pray. I don't enjoy a long commute but that stretch is my quiet time. I often roll down the windows to hear nature noises.

As a true and loyal scrapper, I'm working with an assortment of fall kits. JanetB and Mistica Designs have combined their talents and created Autumn Glory - beautiful colors in this one!!! The papers have great muted designs and textures and it includes a nice assortment of fall nature items - including an owl!!! Stop over to DigiDesignResort to check it out.

This one is of Aaron on the day he and Tricia did a 5K run - she ran and pushed him in the running stroller. He doesn't appear to be real happy, but I think it was quit early on a Saturday morning. He's cute anyway!!

Carena and Mistica pulled out all the stops on another joint effort - Autumn Equinox. This kit is crammed with deep, rich fall colors and more leaves and fall embellishment that you can imagine - including pumpkins, scarecrows and a cat! You'll find it at DigiDesignResort.

I did this page with it. It's Aaron, of course! And the colors are so rich. I really like the way it turned out.

Fall is hear! I love the cooler days and even cooler evenings. This past week has been gorgeous and I've noticed the leaves are beginning to change. I love Fall!!!!!

If you still have to finish up the end of your summer scrapping DigiDesignResort has put out another Mix & Match series, These Special Moments. Each designer has created a kit in the same color palette and they truly have come up with some awesome papers and elements to help you create beautiful layouts.

I've created this LO with These Special Moments by JanetB. This is Eliana. I gave her this outfit when were down there in July. I loved the ruffles and had to get a picture of her little ruffled rear!

I Took The Plunge!!!

A few days ago I got an ad/offer for a good price on Adobe Photoshop CS5. I did some major debating. I even tossed the question out at DigiDesignResort for input from scrapper friends. I've been using PSE7 but I knew there were things I could not do with it that were possible in CS5. Besides, I'm worth it.

I took the plunge and purchased it - how exciting - a new toy!!! And - how scary - so much to learn. Thus begins the journey. I opened it up and was able to figure out how to open a new page - but then what??? LOL! This is going to be quite a journey. I'm used to dragging the photos and elements in then minimizing them into the bin. Hmmmmmm - no bin. I'm sure there is a good way to do this but I haven't quite figured out how to drag and keep them available until I'm ready to use them.

Well - I'm off to find some tutorials to help me get started. So many of the tuts don't cover scrapping - they go off in more directions than I even care to think of at this point!

I'll keep you posted as I go along on this CS5 journey. A lot of it is just finding out where the stuff is that I am used to - and then learning more. Sounds easy enough - we'll see!!!

Now just a bit of scrapping news. A few days ago I did a LO named Eliana Moments. Renee had sent the photo a couple weeks ago and then Carena (Carena Designs) came out with a great Wordart Bundle 1 that was great inspiration. I searched through my kits and when I ran across the Daydreaming Collab Kit the colors matched perfectly with Eliana's dress. Both are available at DigiDesignResort. Thus the page evolved. Then this morning I was notified that it a GSO (Gallery Stand Out) at DigiShopTalk (DST)! I was so excited!!! This was my first page ever that made GSO! September Thoughts

For many of you September holds thoughts of back to school and the end of the summer freedom. We are "empty-nesters" so I tend to forget about the back to school rush - until I hit the morning commute. Now that is another story!!!

To be honest, I am ready for Fall. I like the cooler days and cool nights. The Fall colors just make me feel good. Hopefully we'll get in a couple Garmin Trips to enjoy the colors, fresh apples and maybe even some cider.

A couple weeks ago we received the cutest surprise in the mail - a new photo of Eliana. I scanned it and turned it into a layout. I used P.S. I Love You by Janet B. It is one of the new Mix & Match kits available at DigiDesignResort. Janet's kit it awesome and so easy to work with. Stop by the "Resort" and check them out.

Last week we went down to visit Chris, Renee and little Eliana. I took a ton of photos and did this layout of her as soon as we got back. I used the Use It All Mini created by Alevtina for the Use It All Challenge at DigiDesignResort. Check out the rest of their challenges - lots of fun and great inspiration.

I guess that about covers the latest news and layouts from me. Hope you had a great Labor Day and enjoyed a long weekend. I took a couple extra days - but tomorrow is back to work. I've been off for six days. I do believe I will have not problems adjusting to retirement!!!

Where Has The Summer Gone

Mercy – where has the summer gone? I just realized that I haven’t blogged since May! Actually we have had a very nice and rather low key summer. We made a quick trim to SC to visit Tricia, Jesse and Aaron in June – fast trip but always fun to be with them. In late July Trevor and Portia came for a visit – we were happy to meet Portia and really enjoyed having them with us. Next weekend we plan on a trip to see Chris, Renee and Eliana and are really looking forward to that! That will wrap up our summer and for the fall we would love to do a bit of a color tour in the mountains or PA. But we’ll have to see if that actually materializes.

In my scrapping world it has also been a busy summer. I have been working with some fabulous designers at DigiDesignResort who have been very busy. They don’t seem to take a summer break!

Cindy Ritter of Cindy Ritter Designs is back and better than ever in my opinion. You’ll find her great designs at DigiDesignResort and Digitals. I’ve worked with Cindy on and off for a couple of years now. She creates complete kits and CU items so be sure to check out her store at either location.

Her new release is Sunlit Morning – just released today. The name is perfect for the kit filled with awesome summer shades mixed with a beautiful array of summer blooms. If you are into clusters – this is one you won’t want to pass up. I love it when a kit that has everything I need to complete my page – and this one does just that (Of course, the fact that I love daisies could slant my opinion!) This summer kit has the colors and all the beautiful pieces.

Three Day Week-end!!

I love to have long week-ends! Not that I do anything special but I like the extra time off work. I decided it would be a good time to get a blog in. I've been getting a little scrapping in - along with some laundry, some cleaning and some shopping. We don't have any big Memorial Day plans since our family is not close we just hang a bit. We might go for a country drive tomorrow.

I am now a CT member for a wonderful designer, Janet, of JanetB Designs. I love her great work and had a lot of fun working with her newest kit, "Guy Time", available at DigiDesignResort.

Here are a couple of my creations with it....
When Tricia and Aaron were here a couple weeks ago we took Aaron to Truck Days in Herdon. He loved sitting at the wheel in the trucks!

I did this one of David to let him brag about is great weight loss - 50 pounds!!! Why is it he can shed it much faster than me!! I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he works out and is much more disciplined than me!

Jane has also created this great add-on that you can get at the June Use-It-All Challenge at DigiDesignResort. Stop by and check out this and the other fun challenges.

I created another LO from our outing with Aaron to Truck Days. All the kids got plastic hard hats.This was created using all the items in the Use-It-All Mini.

Well, guess that's it for now. I still need to dream up something for dinner and I think we have a movie to watch tonight. Sounds good to me.

Sunday Evening Thoughts and More

Well, actually my only Sunday evening thought is that the weekend is almost over! I begin to whine about this time every week! Why is it the weekends are never long enough and the weeks are too long!

Yesterday I worked some new templates called Papaer Show-offs by JanetB Designs. They are great and got my creative juices flowing. It felt good to turn out a couple of nice LOs. I must admit I have been in a bit of a slump and haven't felt overly creative! Janet's great templates gave me the inspiration to put a couple things together.

This is David and Aaron taken last weekend. They had been playing football - which consists of David throwing the ball, Aaron runs to get it and throws it up in the air a couple of times and then runs it back to David so he can throw it again. Pretty easy game for David! I used three of Janet's kits for this Love Letters, Fresh and Elegance.

This second one is of my Dad and his siblings taken back in 2001 or 2002 - I can't remember and I don't want to get out of my chair to check. I've always thought it is so special that they all remained such good friends over the years. This photo is now missing three who are now in Heaven. I created the wordart on this - I may have a new career budding. LOL! For this I used another kit - Vintage Romance by JanetB and Carena.

Both of these were created with materials created by JanetB Designs and using her new Paper Show-Offs.

Well, enough for tonight. I guess I'll go fix dinner. It's gonna be a fancy one - tuna sandwiches! You all have a great night and wonderful week. Stay safe and be sure to smile today.

Their incredible team of designers has put together Mix and Match "Sunshine" kits - at a super price. I've had a chance to play with some of them and created this one of my son and his darling little girl.
I used primarily Sunshine Kit by ScrapDesafios and a stamp frame from Sunshine by Verena. All of the kits are fun and mix and match! You can see all of the here.

I'm off to play some more - I'm sure I won't accomplish a thing around the house today!!!

Sometimes I get around to scrapping a great old photo. I did this one as a CT project for DigiDesign Resort This is Tricia when she was about one. This has always been one of my favorite photos and love the way this turned out.

We have had an absolutely wonderful Christmas and vacation time. This was a really special year – we managed to have our entire family together for Christmas Day. The roads were clear, the flights were on time and everything was fantastic. With the three siblings living in different states it is hard to connect on one place. Having time together was the best Christmas present I could have had. I’ll get some LO’s posted before long. I had hoped to get a family photo – but, alas, time passes to quickly and I didn’t get it.

I did get copies of Tricia’s wedding photos and have put a couple of them in LO’s using a GORGEOUS colab kit put together by the great designers at DigiDesignResort. It’s called a Winter’s Night and you can get it right now at 40% off. It is packed with beautiful colors and great embellishments. Be sure to check it out.

I’ve had a few vacation days and have so enjoyed them. I know I will adjust well to retirement – which is too far off! I know I won’t miss the 5 a.m. alarm, the commute or the traffic!

Catching Up

I can hardly believe it has been over a month since I posted! I seem to spend a lot of time and accomplish very little. Now, David (my DH) would say it's age related - but if refuse to accept that silly notion!

Anyway, I had a wonderful surprise the month when I was asked to be on the Creative Team for DigiDesignResort! I was so excited - I didn't even have to think about it. It is so fun and I love the kits I get to work with. Of course, being Christmas the new DigiDesignResort Colab Kit is a Christmas theme "A Christmas Carol." Stop by the "Resort" and check out the wonderful layouts created with this kit. They will help get your creative juices flowing! Here are a couple of mine. The first one is Christopher when he when he was two - I love the look on this face!

This one is Aaron (DGS) taken on his first Christmas. We have several of him with his Santa hat and they are all so cute!

We went to Tega Cay to be with Tricia, Jesse and Aaron for Thanksgiving. It was such fun. Aaron is such a bundle of energy - constant motion. I took tons of photos and managed to end up with a handful that will be workable. I'm anxious to get some of them scrapped.

I'm going to try to post again over the weekend. Both Cindi Ritter and Kelley Prahl have created wonderful new kits too - and I want you to see them also.

We got our first snow today - about 3 inches! I do believe that winter has arrived in Northern Virginia. I spend the day putting up Christmas and tomorrow after church I plan to get some of my shopping done.

Sunday Night Update - Cindy Ritter New Kit

Why is it that I always wait until Sunday night to update my blog? I haven’t done much scrapping lately. Settling into the new position has tired me out. I do like the job and am really happy I made the change. Transition time is always a bit stressful.

I have a new kit to tell you about. Cindy Ritter put out a new kit this week named "Innocence In Blue Jeans" It is a super cute kit and you can pick it up at Divine Digitals. She also has an add-on kit to go with it. If you get a chance trot on over and check it out.

Congratulations To Me – and a Freebie for You

Wow – I can’t believe how long it has been since my last blog! The last month has just flown by and has been so busy. I accepted a new position at work – which is a nice move for me and a good promotion. Of course, along with that comes a host of other “side effects”. I had to train for my new position and train a person to replace me in my old position while maintaining the normal workload!! It has been busy, hectic and challenging!!! I started in my new position on October 1 so am just finishing up my first full week. I am beginning to feel a bit more adjusted and am learning all the names and the routines for a new department. The new job consists of a lot of the same things I have been doing but there are also some new things. Anyway – I do think I will like it.

I’ve slowly been working on developing some designing skills. So far I can basically create papers. To help me relax, I've played around with some new papers. What is more relaxing than a walk in the woods? Even though I don’t live in Northern Michigan anymore my heart is still there and the northern forests are so inviting. Getting Creative - and a Freebie!!

If you know me at all you know I have a bit of an entrepreneur spirit. I had a country craft business for a while and seem to always come up with ideas for business – not always ones that make money!! I think it’s something in the family genes. Last weekend we were at a Farmer’s Market that included a variety of vendors and I suddenly began mentally starting a new business – decorating a booth, managing computer and printer set up and starting a Scrap 4 Hire business. Reality set in and I put that to rest – for now anyway!!

However, I have started taking some digi designing classes at DigiDesignResort. I’ll learn how to create paper and embellishments to create my own kits and some of the things I would need to know about a digi design business. And, who knows, maybe when I retire (or before) I can start a digi design business.

Several weeks ago I created my first papers. Now I have created my first scenery papers. I will admit that I was a bit skeptical at first but once I got started I really enjoyed creating them. I still wasn’t sure how they would be used.So – I played with them for a while – and had even more fun. Today I offer them to you – yep – a freebie - Country Scenery Papers.

Here is my creation – the scenery background paper is made with a photo I took on a morning walk earlier this summer. The other photos are flowers in the yard where we stayed on our Smokey Mountain vacation near Gatlinburg, TN.

I used Orange Spice by Carena, an additional background by Cuddlebeez and the frame by Jealop.

Where Has The Summer Gone?

I can hardly believe that August is almost gone!!! Where did it go? We spent the first week of this month in a wonderful "cabin" in the Smokey Mountains at near Gatlinburg, TN. It was awesome - so relaxing and enjoyable. The cabin belongs to Renee's mom and step-dad and we so appreciated the opportunity to spend some time there. Chris and Renee joined us for a few days and announced that their first little bundle of joy will arrive in February. We are all so excited. It was great to have some time with them. We stopped to see Tricia, Jesse and Aaron for a night on our way home. It was a short visit but fun to be with them - Aaron is a bundle of energy and so delightful! He and his Grandpa have a fantastic time together.

I haven't been doing too much scrapping this summer. However, Cindy came out with a fabulous new kit "Garden Giggles" and you can pick it up at Enchanted Studio Scraps. Here are a couple LOs I've done with it. First one from Tricia and Jesse's Wedding.

It's Saturday!!!

I love Saturday morning. Sometimes I get up and head our for an early walk. My weekday schedule doesn't allow that since I leave the house at 6:00 a.m. Some Saturdays (like today) I skip the walk and grab my cup of coffee and enjoy a chat with David. It's going to be a pretty laid back day - nothing major happening. I do enjoy a relaxing morning!!!'

I scanned a 1994 photo of my Dad, David, Chris and Trever taken while Mom and Dad were visiting us in Hawaii. I used it for a challenge at Digital Scrap Garden. I've always loved this photo!!

I did this one of Aaron. This was taken in February and I just love the look on his face. Tricia just sent me more pictures of him from the past couple of weeks so Grandma is gonna have to get busy! This was done with a great new kit by Kelley Prahl, Caffeine Created Designs, called Make A Wish. You can find it at Digiridoo Scraps. I've enjoyed this kit and I've got a couple ideas for another layout using it.

Independence Day

Happy Independence Day!
I'm sure every family in America has a story of how their family has been touched by war. David was in the Air Force during Vietnam as did my cousin and some of my cousin's husbands. If you visit Washington D.C. you can visit the incredible monuments that pay tribute to those who fought and died to keep our country free. They are awesome.

As a little girl I remember visiting my Grandma and Grandpa in Raco - a little Upper Peninsula town. Their place was small and rustic - I loved it. Hanging on the wall in the living room Grandma had framed photos of all seven of their children. One photo was larger than the others. He was our family's story. My uncles had all served in WWII and all but one returned. Uncle Ralph, the big picture in the middle, was the one who did not return. I remember how bad I felt and how I wished I could have known him. I felt even worse that he died on December 24 - what a sad Christmas present. I remember thinking that Christmas must be a sad time for my Grandparents. Several years ago at a family gatherings my Uncle Paul came walking out of his shed wearing this old helmet chuckling about still having it. He has never forgotten.

So here is my tribute to July 4th - our Independence Day.

So Much Scrapping - So Little Time!

It seems like there just aren't enough hours in the day or days in the week. The weekends just aren't long enough!! There is so much scrapping to do but so little time!!! I told David the other day that I was afraid I would be too old when I retire to do everything that I will still want to do!

If you do any scrapping at all you know that sometimes a layout just falls into place and other times you will struggle for hours and still come up with a blank page. I've been lucky lately. The designers I CT for have been creating great kits and that gives me great product to work with.

Christy Skaggs has put out some wonderful kits lately. Two of them are Mystery Bags. But don't fear about that - trust me they are great!

First one, MysteryBag#1 is a full kit with beautiful peach, rose and green papers and elements. You can find it at Digital Scrap Garden

I did this layout of Tricia using Mystery Bag #1. Aren't the colors pretty? Of course, Tricia is beautiful!

My First Papers!!

Whoopee!!! I am so excited!!! I have created my very first papers. Okay – I know that to many this is not a major accomplishment. I’ve been thinking I would like to do some designing – just for fun. So thanks to a fabulous challenge and tutorial at DigiridooScraps I started playing around and made these for the challenge. I’m sure I’ll improve over time – but I had fun!! So if you like them help yourself.

Sunday Drive

When I was little we would often go for a Sunday afternoon drive – if there was enough time after our Sunday naps! After David and I were married we still enjoyed the tradition. Back in the mid-1980’s when we lived in Nebraska we would put Tricia, Chris and Trevor in the car and head out on the country roads. Of course they were all country roads in the Culbertson area!! We would head out in the afternoon or evening after church and often stop for ice cream. There was one little town that had a frozen custard stand – that was really worth the drive!!

As empty-nesters we still enjoy a ride in the country and with GPS it’s more fun than ever because we can take the little side roads and all the extra turns we want and still be able to find our way home. LOL! Now we’ve added a mission – PICTURES!! David has a nice Nikon with all the bells and whistles. I have a little Cannon that I can just point and shoot - I like to keep it as simple as possible. A few weeks ago the country roads were calling and we headed out for our first spring drive. It was wonderful. We took little, narrow, gravel roads that were only wide enough for one car and stopped where ever we thought we could get a picture. It’s funny because the pictures we come up with are so different. David focuses in on a broader picture like a long winding road - like this. . .

Next stop - he sees a big rolling pasture....

Funny huh?? But then when we put it together we have this...

It’s already June – and I think it’s about time to head toward the hills again!

Oh yes – the other thing that is different about our drives now is that we are always watching our weight so the ice cream stop has been omitted! (Bummer!) I think David is planning a stop for a Blizzard in October – good grief he plans ahead sometimes!!!

What's New?????

Well, there are a couple new things. First, I've added the links to a couple of my galleries. I have one at Digital Scrap Garden and another at Scrapbook Flair. I post at several other places but between the two of these you can see just about everything I have done. You'll find the links on the left side of this page.

The second new item is that I’ve become a part of a new Creative Team. I will be creating layouts for Kelley Prahl of Caffeine Created Designs. She has designed some wonderful kits and I really look forward to working with her and her creations. You can find her kits at Digiridoo Scraps. Be sure to check them out.

I’ve already had a chance to work three of her kits:This one is “Baby Love” and of course I used a photo of Aaron before he even came home from the hospital.

This one was done using Kelley’s kit named "Colorful Adventure" with some great little dinos. This is a photo of Aaron at the park when we were there over Mother’s Day.

This one is using her kit named "Chock Full O' Retro". I was a little nervous when I saw this one. Love the colors but I don’t usually do “retro”. Anyway – I like the way it turned out. This is another one taken of Aaron over the Mother’s Day weekend. We took a walk to one of the parks that is on the lake. Aaron loves his little cars so he carried some along.
I have one more – well more than one but I’ll just add one more for today. This one I did last week with a kit that CindyRitter did as a Daily Download for Scrap Outside the Box. Yep – it’s Aaron again. He likes to feed himself so if you put the food on the fork he will take if from you to feed himself – too cute!! This is done with Franky Frog and Co. Another kit with really cute critters.

Anniversary Day

May 18, 1943, Carl and Audrey tied the knot and became Mr. and Mrs. I love that I can say they were married for 60 years!!! That is such an accomplishment. A few days ago I was talking with someone and when he learned that I was a PK (Preacher’s Kid) in a time when ministers really didn’t make much money. He asked if I had felt deprived. My response was that I really didn’t know anything different from the way we lived so I really didn’t feel deprived. I’ve thought about that quite a bit since then and looking back now at my life, my parents and how I was raised my answer is even more emphatic. No -I didn’t feel deprived because I wasn’t. My parents did the best to raise me with a high moral standard, integrity, and the list of positives goes on. They demonstrated their loved for each other and for us. I don’t think I ever felt poor – they worked hard to make sure we were nicely dressed and there was always food in the freezer and pantry. So - - deprived? No!! Blessed?? YES!

This is Mom and Dad's wedding photo - 66 years ago today. Weren't they a handsome couple?

Mother's Day

Last weekend was Mother’s Day. In my boxes of treasured keepsakes I’ve preserved an assortment of Mother’s Day presents - cards, paper flowers, handprints and the list goes on. They take me back to another place – another time in life that is now a precious memory. I especially remember my Mom this week and how special she was. She liked soft, delicate things and pastel colors – especially pink. She had a collection of china cups and saucers and a collection of Precious Moments figures. Every once in a while I run across a digiscrap kit that reminds me of things she would like and colors that would be perfect for her.

This was made with Whisper of Spring by Cindy Ritter. The lavendar is one of the perfect Mom colors.

Of course, Mother’s Day is also a time for enjoying my family. We have three grown children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and one grandson. They are all fabulous and remembered me with cards, flowers and phone calls. I’m really proud of all of them! This photo was taken last summer when we were all together at Tricia’s. Since we are such a scattered group it is quite an accomplishment to get everyone together and it doesn’t happen as often as I would like. But when we manage to pull it off we have a delightful time!!This is another one I made with Whisper of Spring by Cindy Ritter.

Last weekend we went to visit Tricia, Jesse and Aaron for Mother’s Day and had such a great time. Aaron is such fun. We all took lots of photos so I’ll be working on new Aaron LO’s soon.

I better sign off for now – I’ve gotta work on those new pages of Aaron!

It’s Already May!!!

The months seem to whizzzzz by and I can hardly believe it’s May and Spring!!! I grew up in Michigan so I think of May as the beginning of Spring – especially in Northern Michigan. I now live in Northern Virginia and Spring begins in April. My daffodils have been gone for a while and the azaleas are in full bloom. The first Spring after we had moved into our house I was outside walking Quigley, our long-coat Chihuahua, and was thrilled to see several clusters of daffodils blooming along the side of our home. I grabbed my camera and took some photos to send my Sis in Northern Michigan. I wanted her to see a bit of where I was living and rub it in that I had gorgeous flowers while she was still in snow drifts! I never did send them – but I did finally do a LO of them! For this LO I used a kit named Monochromemagic by cjs scr.apbooking with attitude.

May – is for MOTHER’S DAY – time to create LOs of our Moms, Grandmas and even Great-Grandmothers. One of the April Challenges at Digital Scrap Garden (Cottage Gardening with Jacque) was to combine, or blend, a photo and paper together. I’ve done background blending and love the effect so I had to get in on the challenge. I guess I was already thinking of my Mom, and missing her, when I ran across this photo of her with her Mom and my Dad. I started playing with the photo and a couple of kits that I had just picked up and came up with this LO. Digiscrapping can be therapeutic for me. When I am caught up in memories that I don’t want to loose it helps to scrap them. I’m sure I’ll be scrapping more of her this month.

I did the title and decided to repeat it behind the photo – looky there I did WordArt!! That was fun. Bloom of the Day and I'm on a new CT

I was so surprised – and excited when I found that one of my layouts was the “Bloom of the Day” at Digital Scrap Garden. Here’s the “Bloom”.

Yes this is me, The Bride, on my wedding day and my sister, the Maid of Honor. David and I have been married for 41 years – imagine that!!! We were so young when we got married – only 19!!! We didn’t hire a professional photographer. David was in the Air Force and was a photographer so we thought we would have his Uncle Frank take the pictures and we would develop and print them ourselves. Need I say more? We never did get them done. I guess after all this time and we are still together, it is time for the album. I started it a few weeks ago and haven’t gotten very far – I keep getting side tracked!! Yesterday I decided I needed to get another page done so I put this one together yesterday. The photos that I have to work with are not very good. Most of them are scanned slides or old negatives. I suppose I could fix them more in PSE7. Maybe someday I’ll go back and do that. For the moment I'm just happy to be getting it done.

New Creative Team

Yesterday I did a couple layouts for Cindy Ritter / Digi Scraps Design using her new kit “ Raspberry Scented Memories”. It is a gorgeous kit!! One thing led to another and I became a part of her Creative Team. I’m excited to work with more of her wonderful designs. Be watching for more on her kits and the LO’s I’ve done using them. OK – I’ve decided to take the plunge. I’ve been thinking about a blog for some time but wasn’t sure exactly what I would do with it. You know – don’t want to bore you with stuff you really don’t care about. So you will find bits and pieces here – digiscrapping, my family, my grandson, my thoughts and who knows what else.

Let’s start with a BANG!!! Just so you know – I don’t think I’m a competitive person. However, my DH would laugh at that statement.
